Why Keep Alive?
On Windows Servers, if your asp.net site is idle for too long, it will unload from memory (usually after 20 minutes) and wait for your next visitor before reloading. This next visitor will end up waiting a long period of time for the page to load again, and they may even give up on your site entirely. When we connect to your site every 10 or 15 minutes, it will stay loaded and alive, so your visitors will experience faster site response times!
Why are we offering this service for free?
We run the service internally for our own site, and other hosted portals, so there is no additional cost for us to add in your site to the list. Our motivation for offering this free service is very simple. Links to our site will help us improve our rankings with search engines, so your link to TMMworld.net has great value to us. We will of course link back to your site.
Will Keep Alive solve my DNN performance issues?
No, but it is part of the solution. Of course there are several factors that affect performance, especially the host environment, but you can get a terrific boost to DNN site performance with the Page Blaster module from Snapsis. We use Page Blaster and the Keep Alive Service for our sites, while making sure our servers are never overloaded.
FAQ - About this service
How long does it take to start the service.
We try to process keep-alive service requests within 1 to 2 business days (Monday through Friday).
What if you do not find a link to TMMworld on my site?
If a link is not found, your service request is ignored. If service has already been started, it is immediately stopped.
How often do you check for the link?
The review process timing is random, but at minimum, twice per month.
Does it help if I tell you what page the link is on in my request.
Yes, it makes the search through your site much easier. However, we do check to make sure that we can navigate to the page from your home page. A link on a hidden page or on a page that normal visitors cannot navigate to is not considered as valid for this service.
I submitted a keep alive service request, and added the link, but I never received a notification, now what?
If you have added a link that is visible for any visitor, but you have not received a notification of service starting within 2 or 3 business days, it is possible we did not find the link, or our email notification to you did not make it through your email system. The notification of services starting will come from support AT TMMworld.net . You may either resubmit the request with a note in the comments area, send us a note through the form on our Contact Us page, or send an email to sales AT TMMworld.net.
What if my site was down or I was in the process of making changes when you check for links?
During the review process, if the site is down or we do not find a link, we make note of the date and issue. A few days later, we will return to the site and make a second check but if the site is still down or the link cannot be found, the service is canceled.
Will you notify us when you cancel the keep-alive service?
If we are unable to locate a link to TMMworld.net on your website, we cancel the service without notification. If you are maintaining a valid link on your site, but we must cancel the service for our own internal reasons, a notification will be sent to you in this case.
Can I place the link on the Terms or Privacy Policy page?
Yes you may, as long as we can navigate to the page having the link from the main page, this is acceptable. If you do link in this way, please note this in your request so that we do not miss it.
I have multiple sites that need the service, is there a limit on the number of sites?
There are no limits. As long as each website contains a link to TMMworld.net, the service will be started for the site. Please submit a separate request for each website.
How can I tell if the service is running?
You would need to access the IIS Log for the website on your server. Every 10 to 12 minutes, you will see an entry in th log that contains the following: "GET /keepalive.aspx - 80 - 204.9.77. XXX" XXX will either be 119 or 120 depending which service is running for your site.
Can we purchase this service instead of adding a link to TMMworld.net?
No. We do not offer this service for a fee.
